hotkey for search in library
« on: September 05, 2010, 04:06:50 AM »
Hi there,

I would suggest a hotkey for directly searching in the music library.

I operate RB in a pub and when I want to add a song to the playlist to play next (when crowd is asking for it or the mood demands it) I need to use the mouse.

If I could press (e.g. F2) and search the song immediately and add it to play next (hot key eg +) or put last in the list (eg. hot key -) this would allow me to speed things up and an mouseless operation.

Much appriciacted (as always)

Neo

There were many things with higher priority for those updates. Sorry. I promise it will be done in the next update of RadioBOSS 4.5 beta.

This brings a general point that I have had in mind... and that is to make actions within RadioBoss as keyboard friendly as possible, by making as many actions assigned to keyboard actions as well as mouse actions.

By this I mean, while many of us are good at using the mouse, when you are doing a very busy radio shift, having to always have one hand on the mouse is sometimes awkward, whereas using the keyboard and F keys or pre-assigned keyboard hotkeys is much more preferable.

It also helps when your eyesight is less than perfect (old age you know... hehe)

Which brings me to a further point.

Can a hot key be specifically designed to allow the Space Bar to be

1) Start when stopped AND
2) Segue to the next item when playing.

This is a fairly standard procedure in many radio automation systems.

Thanks

I completely agree that program will be much easy and effective to use if it's possible to control it by keyboard.
In the next update of Music Library some new hot keys will be introduced, including space bar.

Thanks.

Some new hot keys were added in the RadioBOSS 4.5.0.694 beta version: http://www.djsoft.net/smf/index.php/topic,887.msg4502.html#msg4502

Unfortunately on two computers using 2 different brosers, I am still downloading version 692 from your latest update.

An answer may be to add the .694 information and subsequent numerical information on the end of each new update link.

Kepp up the good work.

That works fine...  odd though, as you have previously stated.

I now see that you refer to Spacebar operation in the Music Library.

I didn't read this post carefully in the first instance.

Is it possible to extend this ability to audio files in the playlist?

This happens because you ISP caches the files. Anytime you have the issue just add the "?something" to the end of the link - this will make a new request and cache won't be used.

Yes, it's possible of course. It's not added yet because whole hot-key processing in the RadioBOSS should be rewritten first.
