How to enable "Stereo Mix" input in Windows Vista, Windows 7.

"Stereo Mix" is a special audio device in Windows 7 and Vista which allows to record everything what goes to the sound card output.

This is required if you want to record broadcast using RadioLogger (http://www.djsoft.net/enu/radiologger_description.htm), or, if you broadcast with RadioCaster (http://www.djsoft.net/smf/index.php/topic,848.0.html)

Solution, which works in most cases:

1. Click the Start Button, type "MMSYS.CPL" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box and press Enter. Or, in the Control Panel open "Sound" applet.

2. On Recording tab, right-click on the blank area.

3. Check “Show Disabled Devices” and “Show Disconnected Devices” and the Stereo Mix should show up. If it is disabled, right click on it and choose Enable.

If the "Stereo Mix" still not there, you may have the "Wave Out", "What U hear" instead.

I do not have a stereo Mix option on my e-mu soundcard at all

Yes, it's different for E-mu cards. The detailed instruction will be posted soon. Here's what comes first from google:


 Just create a 44.1 session that is has a WAVE L/R or ASIO 1/2 input strip (depending on what output plugin you're using) and a PCI Card in L or R (depending on which you have your mic hooked up to), then add a SEND under the Master Inserts to HOST WAVE L/R and set ShoutCast to EMU as the input. PatchMix DSP should mix everything together for you with almost no latency.

It would appear to me that dealing with specific sound card problems is not the problem of DJsoft.  

In my opinion it should be directed back to the manufacturer of the sound card, or in the case of Windows 7 it should be directed back at Microsoft.

Every time you ask for DJsoft to deal with an unrelated problem, it means he sacrifices time spent on his first priority, which is developing his software which he sells and is therefore his revenue source.
