STL link

Hi!

I'm trying to setup a STL for a FM transmitter on the distant location, 20 km.

Here is the setup:
1. BUTT (AAC 128k stream) - PC is connected to a fiber internet connection.
2. ShoutCast server on a dedicated server.
3. RadioBOSS - PC is connected to ADSL (not perfectly reliable).

This should work stable, but I'm having disconnections every hour to 2 hours.
The log is in attachment.

How to fix this? THanks!

If it disconnects or the speed is low, there's little you can do from within RadioBOSS to fix it as the problem is not in the software. You can try increasing the network playback buffer size in Settings->Playback->Miscellaneous. The default is 10 seconds, you can try 30. You can also increase buffer sizes on the server side to make stream more stable on unreliable connection.

Thanks for answering.

The internet connection on transmitter site has a lots of FEC errors.
Ping from the PC to dedicated server is normal, about 50-60ms, but on every 10-15 seconds it goes to 150-300ms and higher. Although, there are no packet loss.

I'll try to fix the line with my provider. Can you recommend me a server software, ShoutCast 2 or Iceast? Which is better in terms of stability and buffer underruns? I'm currently on SHOUTcast Server v2.5.0.715/posix(linux x64).

Problem solved!

ShoutCast2 default buffer is 1 MB fixed, but it gives only 5 seconds delay. I've tried to set buffer to 2 MB and the delay is 15-16 seconds now and it works without interruptions now.

We have checked all cables and changed modem and splitter.  No more errors. ;)
