Empty Playlist

1. I made a playlist in Temp and I save it as 20-30_Apr_2012.m3u8 as in RB window title
2. After Save As... I deleted all content of Temp Playlist to make another playlist
3. When I want to open a playlist to check it, accidentaly I click on the Save icon and my previous playlist will be saved as an empty playlist

This is a mistake wich is made by all RB operators at my job.

My request is:
- When Temp playlist is empty do not asign to it any playlist name;

Or:
- Made Toolbar customized, to move Open icon far away of Save Icon

In attach you can see the image.

You should'n't delete playlist contents to create a new playlist. Just click the "New" button on the toolbar (first button) - this will clear the playlist and empty its name. When you click "Save" after "New" it will ask you for a playlist name and will not overwrite previously opened playlist.

Toolbar customization probably will be added in the future.

Thanks for ideea.
The good steps for me are:
  • Create playlist in Temp;
  • "Save As...";
  • Delete All...;
  • New;
  • No save;
  • Create New playlist and repeat steps.
I need "Save As..." instead of "Save".

Super cool!
Now is more simple.
I work only with New, No and Save As... .

My algoritm:
Leave all the time Temp Playlist as "noname"
;
  • Create playlist
  • Save As...
  • New "noname" and No for Save - > repeat steps until finish Schedule.
Any better idea?

Here's how would I did it:
1. create a New playlist
2. add tracks
3. click Save, enter playlist name eg. 2012-05-02.m3u8
4. repeat from step 1 to create another playlist

"Save As..." command is used to save existing playlist under a different name. When you only create new playlists, you shoudn't use "Save as" at all.

BTW, in the next update, the "New" command won't ask if you want to save playlist if the playlist was already saved.

I use this pattern for files (playlists are made for every single hour):
22_02_May_2012.m3u8 (hour - 22, day - 02, May - month and year, of course).
We use "Save As..." to modify only the hour like:
22 became 23_02_May_2012.m3u8 and for midnight rename just 00_03_May_2012.m3u8
and 01_03_May_2012.m3u8, 02_03_May_2012.m3u8 and so on.
That's why we use "SaveAs..."

You can copy the name "02_03_May_2012.m3u8" to the clipboard, and then paste it when you click "Save".

Ha ha ha!
Indeed! It works only with:
  • New
  • Save.
Thanks for your perseverance :)

Fine :)

You should also consider using hot keys to streamline playlist creation process: Ctrl+N for New playlist, Ctrl+S for save, and Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V for copy/paste.

The basics always works :)
