Is it possible for Playlist Generator Pro

Is it possible for Playlist Generator Pro to be called from the Scheduler at a certain time...Create a new playlist...and the save it to a directory of playlists in a date format like 2012-09-12.m3u.  Then create another playlist for 2012-09-13 unattended?  Basically I would like it to build and save playlists in this format for 24 hours daily for a week in advance.  That way it would have the playlist created for a week in advance and all I would need to do would be voicetrack them.  Thanks for any ideas

I see how the scheduler can generate the playlist, but cannot find a way for it to also save that playlist to a ?yyyy-?mm-?dd.m3u form then increment the day by one and save the next playlist without manual intervention.  I can do this manually, but would like to be able to let the scheduler save the playlist it just created, increment the date by one, and create another playlist and save it, etc. I may be asking for it to do to much....It is such a nice piece of software, I have noticed it has slowed some in how fast it can build a playlist with these last updates.

Thanks for your help

I don't know. ??? DJ SOFT, do you have any suggestions

I'm afraid scheduler cannot do it... It's purpose is to generate one playlist for immediate use.

If you just need to create 7 playlists one time a week, you can do it manually:
1. open Playlist Generator Pro
2. select the preset you want to use
3. click "Generate"
4. click "Save playlist..." button and enter filename
... repeat steps 3 and 4 six more times to generate all playlists

In the future Playlist Generator Pro will have extended command-line syntax to allow automatic batch playlist generation.

Hi,

That is also interesting for me. PlGenPro sometime takes too long even for immediate use when using "run without wainting for current track to finish" option. I ends in a blank. Generated even 10 seconds in advance could solve the problem

Pl Gen doesn't 'know' how much time the generation will take.

There are several possible options to resolve this:
a) add 2 tasks: one for playlist generation and one to insert the generated playlists... Pretty easy, but each generation requires 2 scheduler events
b) if scheduler sees a "generate ..." event, it silently starts it 5, 10 or 20 minutes before, and then it just inserts the pre-generated playlist at exact time.

I think we'll go with option b) but it requires some coding and testing...

Hello,

Option b) sounds better from my point of view as a RB user. It saves me time by not doing task twice and also avoid mistakes.
But we need to have some kind of understanding and some control of the way it works.
For exemple I download some shows from FTP source.
I use the scheduler to start a cmd file that save files from the FTP and rename them. This is done 15 minutes prior to show starts.
At show time I use the PlGenPro to "build" the show structure, something like this.
- jingle (random from folder)
- voice track to launch the show (simple mp3 file not from voice track folder in that case)
- show part1 (specific file name from what has just been downloaded and rename)
- jingle
- promo or advertissement
- station ID
- show part2
- etc...

Building that playlist takes too long for use with "Run Scheduled launch withiout waiting for current track to finish". Pre-creation could fixe the issue. But It sould not be created prior the files download are finised to ensure correct gereration and duration calculation.

As a workarroud to PlGenPro in the above exemple I use the regular Playlist Generator to launch the first Jingle and right away I start the PlGenPro to build the rest of the show structure during the jingle duration.

Christian

The amount of time for pre-generation will be configurable - you'll be able to set it according to your situation. Program can't check if the download is finished or not, so you should leave extra 5 minutes or so just in case.

The version with this feature will be released within couple of weeks.
