running 2 copies on one machine

Ive been running two versions of RB 4.6 without any problems for the last year. I tried earlier to install 4.771 and it appeared to install ok but the title bar still showed the old version. I uninstalled 4.771 and went back to the old version and everything seemed ok. Today I tried again but things got worse. I could only uninstall the version in directory RB1 becasue windows only shows one version loaded but there are two versions running in two different directories. I had to manually uninstall the copy in directory RB. When I tried to install RB 4.771 it installed ok but when it tried to start it gave an error that it stopped running and the only thing you could do is select close as an option.

after several attempts i installed 4.734 and it works, almost. I have two versions in directories RB (radioboss) and RB1 (radioboss1). Each works fine but if i attempt to start them both up the playback freezes on both. Im using an Asus Xonar with the ASIO driver selected, and channels 1,2 on one and 3,4 on the other. I have prevent multiple copies unchecked.

I dont know what im missing. This setup worked perfect all last year. I was only running one copy during the winter and trying to run two copies now.

thanks,

Rich

Rich,

When you used 4.6, was sound card setup the same eg. same sound card, ASIO, same channels?

Some sound cards when used in ASIO mode are supposed to be used by only one program at a time.
I think you should start with sound card driver update.

Also check that sample rate for cards is the same in both RadioBOSS installs. Different sample rates are not allowed for ASIO.

I will check it tonight. I was using ASIO because other sound card settings in RB did not give me control of all 8 channels. Is there another setting other than ASIO I should use?

If you need to control 8 channels of sound card ASIO is the only option. Well, not the only: you can install Virtual Audio Cable but that solution is not good.

If your setup worked with RB 4.6, I don't understand why it wouldn't work with 4.7 or 4.8... Did you change anything in the setup?
