Screen error on Playlist Generator with incorrect language (4.5.2.814)

Hello,

There is a problem with the language on the Playlist Generator on Step 4.  I have English selected and the first two options are in Russian.

Thanks, Jamie C.

Dmitry,

Can you tell me what the two options are ?  They are not shown in the User Manual and I cannot understand them.

Thanks, Jamie C.

Dmitry,

Depending what those two options are in Step 4 I think there may be another bug.  Let me explain.

Playlist Generator - Example 1:
Step 1: Playlist time 190 minutes
Step 2: Do not repeat tracks
Step 3: Blank
Step 4: Jingles ticked, top option ticked, After how many tracks = 2
Step 5: Blank
Step 6: Blank
Result: Successfully generates playlist with a jingle after every 2 songs

Playlist Generator - Example 2:
Step 1: Playlist time 190 minutes
Step 2: Do not repeat tracks
Step 3: Blank
Step 4: Jingles ticked, second option ticked, After how many tracks = 2
Step 5: Blank
Step 6: Blank
Result: Successfully generates playlist with a jingle after every 2 songs (same as example 1 above)

Playlist Generator - Example 3:
Step 1: Playlist time 190 minutes
Step 2: Do not repeat tracks
Step 3: Rotation ticked, Random selection, After how many tracks = 3
Step 4: Jingles ticked, top option ticked, After how many tracks = 2
Step 5: Blank
Step 6: Blank
Result: Unsuccessfully generates playlist with four songs in a row and then a jingle - the songs in a row are a mixture of 3 + 1 which is 3 from music library and 1 from rotation list which is correct, but the jingle appears after 4 songs and not 2 as designated.

When I try other combinations of rotation the output playlist appears to be randon - 2 songs then jingle, 2 songs then jingle, 2 songs then jingle, 2 songs then jingle, 4 songs then jingle, then it repeats the pattern.

Can you help ?

Thanks, Jamie C.

Those 2 options on Step 4 mean:
- Random
- By turn
This option selects how jingles are taken from the jingle list.

About bug, we'll check it soon and update will be released shortly fixing it and language issue.

Dmitry,

Did that new release happen yet or should I wait for the new release mentioned on another post at the last half of May ?

Thanks, Jamie C.

Djsoft,

I've only just realised that Dmitry is your last name and not your first name.  In Australia we address people by their first name and only by their last name if they're in BIG trouble at high school :)

Anyway, good news:

1. Playlist Generator, Step 1, Track Source now allows Playlists and it works !  What a great feature !

2.  Playlist Generator, Step 3, Rotation now works correctly !  Great !

3. Playlist Generator, Step 4, Language on options is now English !  Great !

At Radio Dungog we are delighted with the upgrade.  And are dreaming up new ways of using these new features and fixes.  Did you happen to modify the random selection algorithm too ?

Thanks, Jamie C.

No, Dmitry is my first name :) We usually address people by only first name here in Russia... sometimes using first and middle names - mostly on official meetings.

There were some tweaks to the random algo. in this release. Is there something wrong with it?
Random selection tries (is possible) to use tracks which were not selected before.

Dmitry,

Okay on names ... the copyright message on the software has you name in reverse then :)

I haven't noticed any problem with the random selection.  I noticed on another thread that you were looking into it and thinking about making it better in the future - hence the reason for asking.

I have another question unrelated to this thread that I'd like to ask.

Our station presenters want to put music brackets together in groups of three songs followed by an announcement telling the listeners what the songs were and maybe a couple more details of when they were released etc.  Something like this:

1. Song 1
2. Song 2
3. Song 3
4. Announcement: and that was Carley Simon with XYZ from 1984, Simply Red with UVW and The Beatles with ABC from 1965.

5. Song 4
6. Song 5
7. Song 6
8. Announcement: and that was ....... etc.

Our thought was to create lots of playlists each with the 3 songs and the custom announcement, and do that over and over again until we had a substantial collection.

Then somehow select those playlists at random so there is no visible pattern to the listening audience of the order that the brackets are played in.  But, we want to keep the brackets and the associated announcement together to make it all sound very much like a 'live' presentation.

Can you think of a way of doing this so that we can do it night after night automatically using the Playlist Generator ?

Thanks, Jamie C.

In RadioBOSS you may create a "playlist of playlists".
So this is how could be done:
1) You create "sets" (3 tracks+announcement), save them all to the separate playlist files (.m3u).
2) In RadioBOSS, create a new playlist and add playlists created in the previous step to that playlist. Save it.
3) In Playlist Generator select the "Track source" to be the playlist created @ step 2.

This will make Playlist Generator to treat each "set" as one track. During playback of created playlist, RadioBOSS will expand the playlists.

I hadn't tried it, but I'm pretty sure it will work :)
