RB 6.0.4.0 Issues

I've noticed what I think may be a bug or two since we upgraded to this version recently:
  1. Tracklist events in scheduler do not seem to appear in the log printout
  2. Some one hour mp3 files were processed with tracktool in an earlier version with end points that do not appear to be removable - despite processing of the files (remove start and end points), the audio cuts off at the end at the wrong point, suggesting a previous setting is still embedded in the file...
  3. Sometimes tracktool normalisation performed on a file in a folder does not appear when the file is opened in tracktool in the music library.
  4. One of the audio files (news) in a multiple files playlist failed to play at all today - this is the first time I have ever seen this happen - all other files each side played normally and the file played satisfactorily for the past few years. In case this was a once off, I will monitor and let you know if it is consistent.
  5. The scale on the audio file in tracktool does not make a lot of sense - the graduations should fall on more easily interpreted minutes and seconds - similarly the start and end points would be easier to use if they were expressed in HHMMSS.
  6. Please restore the save command in the music library - as others have suggested.
  7. When adding a large quantity of new files to the library, sometimes it can be quite difficult to avoid adding some files that may have already been added - this results in many duplicates that have to be deleted later. The "date added" helps, but it can get messy as there does not appear to be a way of selecting overwrite or skip overwriting an existing file (or is there?)
  8. The ad scheduler needs some work to give it a more reliable "feel" - we find that ticking the boxes doesn't always work and it is hard to know what ads are being scheduled without printing out the overall timetable.
The other improvements that have been made in this release are great by the way, however I would be keen to see your responses to the above suggestions/comments in case I am missing something, and in the interests of improving the program.

What do you see in the Logs section when such an event starts?

Some one hour mp3 files were processed with tracktool in an earlier version with end points that do not appear to be removable
I'm not sure how this could be possible. Please try renaming the file and play it - do you see it ending at the wrong place? Also, a track can end earlier if it's corrupted.

Sometimes tracktool normalisation performed on a file in a folder does not appear when the file is opened in tracktool in the music library.
How often does it happen?

If it fails to play, it will show you an error message. What does it say?

Thank you for the suggestion, we'll see how this can be improved.

It wouldn't be possible due to the nature of its operation, it performs all tasks (add, delete, etc) immediately on the library.

When adding a large quantity of new files to the library, sometimes it can be quite difficult to avoid adding some files that may have already been added - this results in many duplicates that have to be deleted later.
It's not possible. Duplicated are ignored, and not added.

Yes, we have plans on improving it, specifically, edit the ads in a separate window, with explicit OK and Cancel buttons to save/discard the changes. Reporting will also be improved.

Nothing at all from memory, but let me try and replicate the problem and get back to you

I think I found the problem - the file types were not marked as PROGRAM (ie no start or end marker) but were tagged as PROGRAM.

I'll need to do some experimenting to confirm this.

There was no message in the log - it simply jumped to the next event.

Thanks for the feedback

There was no message in the log - it simply jumped to the next event.
There can be one reason fo this - the file ended. Due to End marker being set at the beginning, or file corrupted and therefore ended right after the start. If there was no error message, this means that at least playback was started.

This seems to happen to some tracks (wav and mp3) . Also normalise levels set in library don't always appear in the file in a folder - until tracktool again sets the normalisatoon level. It seems to be random.
