I don't think Windows can be an issue here. If you use 3rd party antivirus or similar software (the one that controls file operations) it could interfere. Anyway, I think calling streamarchive off is a good idea to ensure all recordings are stopped (if there's a chance that file names can overlap).

It means there were errors while creating a playlist. For the details please see the log, to access it, in the menu click Settings, Open Settings Folder. Navigate to Log folder and open the "playlistgenerator.log" file. It will have the details why creating the playlist failed.

This version is very old, so I suggest you to consider updating to the latest version. Other things you can try is to use a different sound device, or switch the driver mode from WASAPI to DirectSound in Playback settings.

Silence usually means two things: nothing was playing at all, or something was playing, but it was silence (e.g. a track with silence in the middle). In your case, it seems the latter, because the log says "Current track: 0" meaning the first track in the playlist was playing.
