broadcast fixed ID tag

Good evening, everyone. With RadioBoss, is it possible to send only fixed tags to the Icecast server instead of the tags from the playlist files? Let me explain: I would like each DJ not to send the metadata (tags) of individual tracks, but rather always and only their own image and the title of the live broadcast. Thank you all in advance. Best regards.

Yes, that's what we do as well. I assume you want the show name and the DJ’s image to appear on websites.
Assign File types to the show (you'll find that in Settings).
For Broadcasting title, select Use custom title and enter the name of the show below.
Check Set artwork and upload the image.

You can also go to Event and enable Send task name instead of track titles to server
and Set artwork.

in Germany this would not be allowed, the GVL stipulates in its conditions for web radio that the title info must be broadcast
The transmission of the music recordings should, if technically feasible, be accompanied by the transmission of the information inserted in the respective music recordings by the rights holders regarding the title and performing artists.
but I don't know how it is in Switzerland

First of all, thank you for your response. Yes, that is exactly what I would like to achieve for all the DJs who connect with RadioBoss. However, I am not quite sure what I need to do. In the settings, I found the File Types—what should I set there? And then you mentioned Broadcasting Title, but where can I find it? Sorry for my lack of understanding.

Oh guys, thank you all! I’ll try to study and test with your info. I can’t do it right now because a DJ is on air. I didn’t know that in Germany it’s mandatory to broadcast metadata even for live shows. In Switzerland, I’m not sure—SUISA hasn’t informed me about this. I’ll do some research on that as well. Anyway, truly, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Best regards.

Hello everyone, so for the name of the live program, I followed the advice of Patrick De Bruyn, whom I thank. However, I didn't understand how to set the image for the live broadcast. I have the impression that an Event needs to be used, but I'm not sure how. If someone is kind enough to give me a hand, I would be very grateful. Thanks again to everyone. Best regards.

My RadioBOSS Setup for Managing DJ Shows

Here's how I've organized our DJ shows in RadioBOSS to ensure consistent branding and easy management:
  1. Dedicated Folders:
    • For each DJ or specific show, I've created a separate folder on our system. Each folder is typically named after the DJ or the show title (e.g., "DJ John Doe", "The Morning Mix").

  2. Configuring File Types:
    • In RadioBOSS, I go to Settings > File Types.
    • For each DJ/show, I create a new File Type:
      • Name: I enter a descriptive name, usually the DJ's name or the show's title (e.g., "DJ John Doe").
      • Identifier: I use the same name here as I did for the "Name" field.
      • Folder: This is crucial. I link this File Type to the specific folder I created in step 1 for that DJ/show.
      • Broadcast Title: I select "Use custom title."
      • Enable "Set artwork"

  3. I repeat this File Type configuration process for every individual DJ or show we have.

With this setup, whenever a new audio file for a show is placed into its designated folder, RadioBOSS automatically recognizes it. Regardless of when that show is scheduled to play, it will always display the correct show name (from the custom title) and the associated artwork.

To keep things tidy and ready for the next episode:
  • In Events, I use the Wizard to create an event that "Plays one track from the playlist or folder."
  • Within this event's settings, I've checked the option: "Delete file from disk after playback."
This ensures that once a show has been broadcast, its audio file is automatically removed from the DJ's folder. The folder is then empty, ready for the next episode to be uploaded, preventing old shows playing accidentally.

Hello

tomimatko

, thanks for the detailed description.

It seems to me that this system assumes that the DJ uses a folder containing the audio files for the live broadcast, or am I wrong? I use another system that takes the audio stream from my server and plays it via line. I'm not sure if I explained myself correctly.

I'm looking for a system that sends, for each DJ, the show title, the DJ's name, and the show's cover image, regardless of which source in the playlist is used. Additionally, each DJ should be able to configure this in their own RadioBOSS, as we connect from different countries.

Anyway, thanks a lot! I’ll be waiting for any updates.

Best regards.

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought you were receiving pre-made mixes/shows from the DJs. That's how we get them. But you actually want to re-stream a live stream. In that case, my system won't work for your situation, and you'll need one of the previous suggestions.

’ll try to explain as clearly as possible. We are about ten hosts spread across different regions and countries. I would like that, whenever a DJ connects for a live broadcast, the show's name, the DJ's name, and the show's image appear on the player of our website for the entire duration of the broadcast, instead of the usual track metadata.

Thanks again for any help!

If it's about rebroadcasting a stream, it's very simple: Event > Wizard > Play an internet stream. In 'Task name', enter the DJ's and show's name. Check 'Send task name instead of track titles to server' and also check 'Set artwork'.

Hi, yes, of course, I understand how to do that. But what I want is that during my live broadcast (and for all the others), the show's image and name are always transmitted, regardless of the source (track, line, jingle, etc.) being played from the playlist.
