Custom independent note/label column for playlist rows (session-only)

Hello DjSoft Team and everyone on the forum,

During live shows, listeners send track requests on the fly. Since we add these songs manually as they come, we often need a quick way to visually mark them on the playlist without editing audio files on disk or changing their tags.

Therefore, it would be extremely helpful to have a new, independent column in the playlist (or a custom text field per row) with the following behavior:

  • A simple, independent text/label column where we can type a single character, short abbreviation, or emoji (e.g., ⭐) directly in the playlist row on the fly.
  • This text must stay attached to that specific playlist position and move along with the track if its position changes.
  • Important: This data should exist strictly in the active RadioBOSS session memory. It must not be saved to standard playlist files (like .m3u), because saving and sharing playlists shouldn't transfer temporary live-show markers to other formats or presenters. It simply clears when the playlist is cleared.
Could you please explain if a feature like this would be technically possible to implement in future updates?

Thank you very much for your time, consideration, and for continuously developing such a great piece of software!

There's a similar feature exists you can try using: press T on the keyboard when a track is selected, you will see a small window pop up. Right-click it, and uncheck the "Do not attach to track" option.
This way, it will save the notes per-track, they are stored persistently, but do not modify tags, not it's saved in the playlist.

Hi!

Thanks for the tip regarding the T shortcut and the "Don't assign to file" option – I checked it and it works, saving the note in the program's database.

I do have one suggestion regarding its practical use in live broadcasting, though. Currently, a marked track doesn't stand out on the playlist at all – the info only appears when you click on it with the mouse or when the track starts playing.

It would be great if RadioBOSS allowed for some simple visual distinction for such rows on the playlist – for example, a different row color or a dedicated column with an indicator (like an exclamation mark !). This way, I could instantly see on the list that a special track is coming up in 2-3 songs, while the note content itself could keep popping up in the window just like it does now.

Best regards!
