Link tracks with the same song but with a different title or different language

Hi Djsoft,

Firstly i wanted to wish you a happy 2025 new year, all the best for this upcomming year !

I have a problem with many songs because I'm obliged to rename them to avoid repetitions problem for example:

The Song "This Girl In Love With You" and "This Boy In Love With You" are the same songs, for another example I have some tracks based on the same song but with different titles, example "Ariana Grande - 7 Rings" and "Julie Andrew - My Favourite Things

Could it be possible to add such a function ? to link same songs but with differents titles ?

Best

I'm not sure how the program will know if those tracks are actually the same. There is linked artists feature, you can try using it, this should handle the second case from your post.

It's not really entirely odd... There are some cases of songs that have different versions by different artists but same title or same song meaning or even cover songs.... So you get to just group them together for scheduling purposes...i think it comes in handy in some cases.

Levine Thank You.
When the song Title is the same there is no problem, but when it's with different language or an adaptation like for Ariana Grande, we can also mention "Paint Town In Red" by Doja Cat with Dionne Warwick song gimmick.

There's a program, I won't mention its name here, although it is not so known, that solves these cases by having a list of artists that you can tick and assign a specific title when two or more of these artists took part in the same song. So that the program will know that a song must be avoided whenever it will choose a song of those artists.

Since the latest version of RadioBOSS 7.1, it is possible to configure an additional separation rule based on Tags.

Playlist Generator Pro => choose a category => "No-repeat" tab => Additional separation rules (at the very bottom) => click on the "+" => Under "Do not repeat," choose "Tags." And select your Tag. Then, set the no-repeat duration.

Save this preset to recall it in other categories.

It's true that many new music tracks use samples, covers, or even remixes... This becomes complicated to manage when a radio station plays a wide range of music tracks spanning several decades.

Example: DJ Snake's "Paradise" (a track from 2025) uses the sample of Phil Collins's "Another Day in Paradise" (1989).
The track titles are not the same. Phil Collins isn't featured on DJ Snake's track.
My solution to "link" these music tracks: I created and placed the same tag for both tracks.
Thanks to my additional separation rule, I can ensure that these two music tracks aren't played one after the other or within 4 hours of each other.
This is a solution currently available in RadioBOSS to determine the similarity of two or more music tracks.

For the record, I don't support changing the title to fix a problem with a radio station's programmer. The radio DJ may announce the wrong track. It's also disrespectful if you use "nowplaying" to send metadata to the radio player.

This is an interesting task, I'm not sure what better solution could be offered for it. Maybe something like "Related Tracks" (similar to "Related Artists")?

This is a good suggestion. It would simplify the music track tags. I imagine it almost like for "associated artists" in the same tab of the Playlist Generator:

A box with file selection: Select the reference track
A box with file selection: Select the track(s) to associate
A summary table with the music track connections. As for associated artists.
But broader in terms of display because there are tracks with very long names...

There would be a duration setting: Do not repeat the associated track for "X" minutes.
I would like this setting to be independent and not associated with the current setting for the "normal" track.

The Artist and associated artists have the same duration setting. This isn't annoying and makes sense.

However, for "associated tracks," this would be very inconvenient.
For example, in one category, I set a "normal" track to not repeat for 10 days (See the example in my previous post with Phil Collins). This duration would be much too long for the new music (DJ Snake) which must be played one or more times in the same day.

The idea is to have control over this duration parameter.

Overall, I would be interested in integrating this new parameter: a certain number of new music releases use existing sounds (samples, remixes, etc.).

It remains to be seen what other users think.
