Move tracks in the Radioboss On Air Studio Playlist

Hi Dmitri,

Sometimes when you are moving up or down a track in the on air studio of radioboss, and the studio is mixing between a Track to another, it happens a bug and the track you are moving is played, or it perturbs completely the order of the songs moving some unwanted songs in the playlist order.

I'll try to capture for you a video of the problem.

Best Regards

Maybe you accidentally double-clicking it?

Hello,

I encountered a similar situation before finding a solution that worked for me:
  • The track I moved in the playlist (up or down) would then end up in an unwanted location when there was a mix between two tracks;
  • And during this mix, a track would play. This would cut off the currently playing track.

My solution:
  • Deselect "Selection follows playback" in the "View" tab (see screenshot "FollowPlayback");
  • Change the mouse double-click function in the playlist to "Do nothing" or something other than "Play track." This change is made in the "Controls" options. (see screenshot "ControlsMouse").

I noticed that the mouse double-click only occurred when a single click was used, and only when one track was being mixed to another.
Note: This problem only appeared when there were multiple tracks in the playlist with the side scroll bar displayed.

I haven't had any more problems since.
I'm not saying my solution will solve your problem, but it's an idea worth trying.

If you drag while playing track is being switched, this may lead to some unexpected behavior, especially if "Selection follows playback" is enabled.

But when you drag a track, no double click occurs, so this shouldn't be necessary I guess.

Exactly, I noticed several behaviors while the playlist was being changed:
  • The track I was moving was placed in a random location in the playlist;
  • When I re-select this track, it started playing. However, I didn't feel like I had double-clicked;
  • Or, when I selected another track (single-click), it started playing;
  • Sometimes, it was another track that was being moved.
The behaviors were random.
I don't remember if the "Selection follows playback" option was checked by default or if I had checked it when I first configured RadioBOSS.
Unchecking this option allowed me to no longer experience these behaviors.

I'll point out again that this only happened when there were multiple tracks. I was in the middle of the playlist with the scroll bar showing.
When there was no scroll bar, meaning all the tracks were visible, there was no random behavior.

But when you drag a track, no double click occurs, so this shouldn't be necessary I guess.
Yes, generally, dragging a track doesn't trigger its playback.
Sometimes, the track would play.
I guess it was because of the way I was clicking on the track. Maybe out of habit, I was moving too quickly... I'm not sure about that.
I preferred to assign another function to the double-click.

It can happen due to "Selection follows playback" and also "Playlist auto scroll" option (it scrolls the playlist so that the playing track is visible). So when dragging, it may cause conflicts. It seems rare though, I just tried couple of times and it seems to still be working fine.

If there's a frequent need to drag tracks while playing, probably those two options should be disabled.

Most of the time, and even all the time for me: a selection of additional tracks. See the video file "Sliding."

In the video, three tracks move simultaneously while only one track is selected. For your information, it's the same selection before and after the transition. That is, I left my finger on the mouse button.

Rarely: another track is played. I had more difficulty reproducing this behavior (PlayAnotherTrack). I think it was a matter of bad luck: I released the mouse click right at the transition and pressed it again right after. Perhaps my mouse has a certain sensitivity that caused a second click. But I didn't feel like I was doing it.

In any case, it's surprising to see the playlist's appearance change during a transition: we have reflexes that can create unwanted actions.

Disabling the "Selection follows playback" option allowed me to no longer experience the behavior of the "Sliding" video.

Assigning a different behavior to the double-click allowed me to avoid unpleasant surprises. Even if it was rare. It's a safety precaution for me: I may have inappropriate reflexes at the wrong time or perform actions too quickly.

If there's a frequent need to drag tracks while playing, probably those two options should be disabled.
For me, only one of the two: 'Selection follows playback'. Even if I don't often change the order of the tracks.
The other option, "Playlist auto scroll" enabled alone, didn't create any strange behaviors during the tests I conducted.

I noted this for the future improvements. I think logical way would be to ignore "Follow selection" / "Auto scroll options" if dragging (inside the playlist) is in process. This way no selection or scroll changes will occur, and dragging will work as expected.

Yes, that would be a good setup: I see it as a safety feature.
