Pause playlist while event is playing - buffer limit

Hello @djsoft

Regarding the “Pause playlist while event is playing” feature, I am currently testing a 2–3 minute pause on a streaming source and would like to know if there is any buffer recording limit.

In other words:
If I added the stream under Media → Add → Stream and created an event that pauses this stream for 3 minutes, will the buffer fully preserve the audio during those 3 minutes so that, when playback resumes, the paused audio is played back?
Or is there a maximum buffer size, meaning part of that audio might be lost after a certain limit?

Thanks.

It won't buffer a lot (by design it only reads a certain buffer from the server, just enough for playback). I don't have the exact number though. There's another thing, while a stream is paused, it's not played, so no data is being read from the server - this may lead to the stream being disconnected by the server - after you resume, it will play for some time and then stop. Having said this, I think you shouldn't pause it for more than 30-60 seconds.

If you want to play some announcement that exceeds 60 seconds, please consider using the "Set playlist level" to zero (muting the stream), this will continue "playing" it so no buffering is needed and no disconnect for inactivity. You will "lose" some of the stream of course (the duration of announcement).
