PGPro - Folders - Categories

I was thinking about Categories for PGPro. We need it... yesterday.
I have a suggestion. Can you make possible to have Folders in PGPro - Pressets (or anywhere...)?
If that will be possible, then the Folder itself can be a Cathegory.
And in PGPro to have another panel for content:
  • one -> selection for Category
  • another -> selection for the content of that category
Hope images explain better.

The idea with folders-categories is excellent, will be implemented in RB 5.1.

For the content - can you please explain it a bit further, I'm afraid I didn't understand completely what it should do (some sort of pre-defined categories?)

The folders are categories. Every folder has some presets. For example:

In category (folder) Summer I make some PGPro templates (presets):
  • RoMusicFast+ID+ForeingnFast+Jingle.genprs;
  • RoMusicFast+Sweeper+RoMusicMedium+Jingle.genprs;
  • RoMusicMedium+ID+EnMusicMedium+VoiceTrack.genprs;
The Presets from the folders are the CONTENT of that folder.
So, if I select the Summer Cotegory in first panel, in the second panel will be shown all that three presets as content.

Something like in Image.
I think that will be a better solution.

Need more explanations to clarify this request?
I think, yes. I also don't think category/folder management should be in the main window - a separate window for selecting presets/categories will be created.

That's OK for me. Can you draw it?  :)

The ideea is to see ONLY those presets from selected Category.

If we have Folders as Categories BUT if I see all presets from all categories in the same panel, then Categories are useless.

The categories will look like Groups in the Scheduler.
I cannot imagine how it will look but if it will function as I wish will be fine.

Something like this:

Template Category 1
Template 1
Template 2
Template Category 2
Template 1
Template 2
Template 3

I am not convinced. Personally I do not like this way. I want to make 24 presets in AllDay Category. Can you imagine how difficult is to navigate in all? My solution looks better.

We'll continue this discussion after RB 5.1 beta version is published. What you offer requires redesigning of the PlGenPro main window - this is not good as it will make upgrading more difficult.

That's ok. If you will decide to make folders as categories then it should be in a good design. I usually re-design a module if the result is better. That's my principle.

Further thinking of it - we won't make folders in the Presets category as this will lead to a lot of complications in various areas, e.g. when you use generate command (or command line interface) you'll need to specify a folder. We'll do preset categories in another way...

It is ok. I was thinking myself too, and the result was this: I will install another two or three RB and I will make different PGPro presets. With Groups Categories as in Scheduler will be wrong and useless for us.

I think you should wait for the 5.1 release and see how categories work there :)
