RadioBOSS Cloud 2.8 released!
  • Song Requests – Repeat Protection
Added repeat protection for song requests (configurable in Settings → Song Requests).
  • Improved Song Request Search
Fixed an issue with searching for tracks that have no tag information.
  • Better Repeat Protection for Track List
Repeat protection has been improved for Track List items.
  • Minor UI Improvements
    Various small interface enhancements.

A feature that is very much needed is a way to restart the play time on a podcast inserted in the playlist if said podcast unexpectedly restarts before reaching the desired stop point.
Example, top of hour news break, set to play for an even 3 minutes. Sometimes, the podcast unexpectedly restarts, but the play time acts as if nothing has happened, so rather than playing to the expected point of the file, it still only plays for three minutes, not taking in to account that the podcast restarted, and it results in some pretty ugly transitions. So, if it restarts, there needs to be a way to have the timer reset so it still plays to the desired point. Granted, it is still not ideal to have the podcast restart, but at least if it does, this would help at least make it sound slightly better.
If this is not possible, then it would be good to be able to make the podcast download automatically several minutes before it is supposed to be played. thus resulting in playback of the file stored on the rb server, rather than the remotely hosted podcast. That would also keep it from restarting midway through.

Yes, thank you, noted for the future versions.

I would love to see an ETA for advanced metadata, as most of my stations need a strong metadata system to keep monetization on, like:

- metadata post-process on RadioBoss Cloud, like RadioCaster (tier 1)
- read metadata from m3u8 streams
etc

Thanks.

Repeat protection for requested songs is not working. In your own system I try to order a requested song and it says try again later. The protection is added after 60 minutes. As you can see, this song has not been ordered in the last 120 minutes. This happens with every song.

Repeat protection checks the following:
  • Played songs (what was actually played) - it will not allow requesting a song if it recently played
  • Requested songs list - if a song is already requested (and not played yet) it will not allow requesting it again.
Just by adding m3u8 URL? Can you please explain step by step? Thanks
I'm not sure what are the steps, just adding the URL is enough, you can add it to the playlist or create a scheduled event to start it. m3u8 URL is simply a link to the playlist, and the playlist contains actual stream URL.

So you confirm that the repeat protection on song requests works 100%?

You can see it clearly in my pictures. I tested it myself and ordered two different songs, but the same artist's name is listed. And within a short period of time, they played even though the settings were set to 60 minutes.

It's in the playlist, I meant checking the actual log from the Logs section. And you also need to ensure that all Track Tool elements have repeat protection enabled (it's the default, but it can be turned off).

Here is a screenshot. The same artist played at 8:07, and I wanted another song by the same artist. You can see that it plays without any problems at 8:26.

No repeat protection works, that's a fact. Where and what track tools are you talking about? I don't see a track tool area or its small settings anywhere. Or what exactly do you mean by tracktools?

If you insert a track manually, it will play regardless. Repeat protection rules are only checked for the items that play from Track List items.

Sorry, meant Track List: https://www.radioboss.fm/support/radioboss-cloud/track-list/
You use it already. Please note that repeat protection only works for those items, not tracks that are inserted directly to the playlist.

You said to look at the log of what was played. I also put the image in the log. The list of songs is in the track list as folders and selects randomly. The scheduler automatically adds requested songs to the playlist when requested. However, repeat protection does not work for them, and the same artist is still played immediately, ignoring the 60-minute rule, for example.
