Voice Track

Voice tracks are always on.
That option in the settings window left from previous Voice track implementation, you don't need to change its state.

To record or insert voice tracks, use menu commands: Playlist -> Insert voice track / Record voice track

at times there is no one in the studio days at a time
we do have scheduled progrmas that come on at different times
eg 6am-11am then 11am-1pm then 1pm-4pm etc
is there a way to use voice tracking and our currently schedule to make it seem like there is someone there in the studio. this would require us to run those sceduled block programs hours and days ahread of time. and then someone needs to sit there an insert the voice tracking. does your soft ware allow this. if so how. i would liek to use the voice tracking to do this. i think this would give our station a live feel.
Also, Dimtry how did you intend voice tracking to be used?

Currently voice tracks should be used like this:
- you record several voice tracks using the voice track recorder tool
- then insert VT's to a playlist, so you could leave the studio while it will sound live.

In the future, as I said here: http://www.djsoft.net/smf/index.php/topic,2767.0.html, new features will be added to insert voice tracks (sweepers) automatically.

Hi Reverb

You are right. Even if the studio is unattended, it is still good to have a human voice. One of the main goals of radio is to provide human company and a sense of community. If announcers are not available, voice tracking is I think, the next best option. I like the idea of one-time only, voice tracks, for a specific place in the playlist only.

Yes, you would need to generate the playlist in advance, using Playlist Generator Pro, and then save it with a name like: 20120220-11.m3u8. Your announcer would then come in and look at the playlist, choose where in the playlist to talk, and then record and insert the voice breaks using Dmitry's voice track record function. The voice tracks are now permanently inserted into the playlist.

You can of course schedule this playlist to play at the correct time...and you have a music programme with announcer. Of course, as you will know, you cannot talk about topical issues, sports results or weather - as you are recording in advance! :)

I spent 8 years of my life voice tracking air shifts. Thus my interest in this topic.

Have a great day. :)

I'm thinking that weather announcements are possible when unattended.
There are 2 thinks needed to do it:
- get the actual weather info (a number in degrees)  for your city, I believe Yahoo or some other company could privide API for that purposes;
- have pre-recorded files for every possible temperatures - the software will insert appropriate number in the playlist. :)
It's just a concept, and I didn't make a deep look into it... But theoretically it's possoble.

james and djsoft thanks for the response.
but  can you direct me to a post that talks about playlist generator pro.
i've always used the wizard. but i would like to start using voice tracking.
my senario is that i want to voice track a show 3-4 days out.  but not the entire day. just between the hours of 12pm-3pm

Playlist Generator Pro is not required to use voice tracking. You can prepare playlist manually and then insert voice tracks where you need them...

To record and insert voice tracks, there are commands in the Playlist menu.

Hi Reverblive

Here's how I might approach it.

Create a 3 hour playlist of music - either using Playlist Generator Pro, or manually. Make it roughly to the required duration, remembering that you will be talking too (so maybe 2 hours 30 or 2 hours 40 of music).

Then, record your voice tracks in the playlist (under Playlist menu), and save.

Finally, use the scheduler to play your playlist at the correct day / time.

I'm keen to hear how you are getting on.

James

James thanks for your response. you seem to know a lot about this topic.
i'm using the new RB 4.7 beta
it now has a new segue graphic display.
what would people use this for. how is this suppose to be used. can you give me an example.
also for the voice tracking  i understand that it plays between  the outro and intro of the song.
when does the voice tracking actually start:
- at the start of the outro.
- in the middle of the outro and intro
- or just before the intro ends
what happens if the voice track is longer than the outro and intro. does it put it in the middle.

also is there a way to trigger certain voice tracks when a song plays. or select from a number of voice tracks to play during the intro. this will give the station a real like feal.
