add scheduler items two groups for easier sorting

Hello,
This may already be possible, and I just don't know what I am doing. It would be nice to be able to add a tag or group type to items in the scheduler, and then be able to sort items in the scheduler based on those groups. So, it would be good to be able to have tasks only from certain groups show when said group is selected from a drop down. My reason for requesting this is that as it stands, I have such a huge list of items in the scheduler, and finding what I am looking for is quite hard. So, being able to sort by day, or by group, would be quite helpful.
 
Scheduled events can be grouped and groups can be minimized to make the list of events shorter. Groups are assigned in the event properties window.
