JUST PODCAST

Podcast is used only for recording a radio (talk) show.
After edit it can be used as a track for broadcasting...

I used for Podcast:
  • RadioBOSS 5.1.3.0;
  • Behringer Xenyx X1204USB Mixer.
OS Settings (Win 7 HP 32Bit):
  • Playback : Behringer USB;
  • Recording : Behringer USB.
RadioBOSS settings:
  • Playback : Behringer USB Audio - ASIO;
  • MIC : Behringer USB Audio - ASIO.
For recording Podcast use... RadioBOSS :)  :
  • Tools -> Stream Archive (set path where to save the stream recorded and values for codec).
By the way ! The mixer has asio drivers wich must be installed.

I really would like if in Stream Archive (for pre-recording podcast or anything else) we will have a graphic waveform in a window, like in the others recording software. This is very important for adjusting volume level.

I use now RadioBOSS not only for Live Broadcasting (24/7) but for production too (pre-recording). So, Stream Archive is very important. I spend a lot of time to set microphone level for every guest:
  • I start record about 1-2 minutes and stop Stream Archive;
  • Open recorded track with Audacity and I "read" the levels;
  • I adjust levels for every mic and start recording again;
  • Stop recording, open the second track in Audacity and "read" again the levels;
  • AND SO ON, until I decide that the levels are good.
This is very frustrating, especially when I have in studio doctors, teachers etc., who have a limited time.

I really would like to have a good graphic waveform to see the level of the sound in real time.
If you cannot do that a modul as VoiceTrack recording with VU Meter, for Stream Archive will be OK.

I made a recording with a software from RB and MIC.
You can see that in real time I can adjust the volume level of the sound.

In Stream Archive I would like a modul wich allow me to see the level of recording.
That wil be awesome.

Stream Archive will have the level which is displayed on the FX tab (see the screenshot attached). This is, basically, the level on which RadioBOSS outputs the sound. You can control it using the Gain slider.

The feature you're asking for can be added to Track Tool in the future - it can simply change the level at which the file is played (by adding a special tag or using ReplayGain).

GREAT !
I like this too.
It is great if I can see in real time volume levels from all co-hosts.
Thanks a lot !

By the Way: In wich version will be this characteristic?
It's already there (I mean level display) - the playback level in RadioBOSS and recording level in Stream Archive are the same. What is played in RadioBOSS is copied to Stream Archive and saved to a file. Current version has small bug there: if you have the "Output to encoders only" for microphone (and use the MIC button) its level is not displayed - it will be fixed in the next update.

New feature - change recording level from Track Tool - is not yet assigned to any version, so currently no promises about it.

Indeed MIC wasn't displayed. If you will solve it will be GREAT.
The "New featur"e is awesome too :)

Only good news.
WHEN will start to find bugs in beta?

The beta version is under development, it should be released within a week or two.

It is very interesting that settings for PODCASTING, SKYPE works only with RadioBOSS.
All these settings doesn't work with any other recording software (audacity, audition, reaper, cubase - I tested all).

I asked myself why?

I realised that RadioBOSS has an internal module (as Stream Archive, for example) wich mix the content from Playlist (tracks) with MIC and render them as a single track. That's really incredible. I did not see other RAS to do that. The Broadcast module works with the same principle.

I talk about this: http://www.djsoft.net/smf/index.php/topic,3968.msg17279.html#msg17279
and this topic too: http://www.djsoft.net/smf/index.php/topic,3915.msg16988.html#msg16988

Excellent level recording (after some setting tests) with Stream Archive (music from Playlist and voice from Mic - Behringer X1204USB).
Only one USB Connection from the Mixer to the Laptop with RadioBOSS.
