RadioBOSS 4.5.0.735 Crash on Windows 7

Thanks for information.

This may be HTTP request issue. I checked it, if HTTP request fails to send info several times, it may hang the app theoretically - possible memory corruption there (will be fixed in 4.5.1). You may try turning this off temporarily.

1) No computers with SP1 here... soon there will be one. Will be funny if it's SP1 causing this :)
2) Strangest thing is that almost nothing was modified in 4.5 compared to 4.4 in audio engine, broadcasting, .... Mostly UI changes and minor fixes.

Hi,

we've installed RadioBOSS 4.5.0.735 on a Windows Vista (SP1) system, and after about 12 hours also had a crash ("RadioBOSS stopped working...").

The sound card is a Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio. We run the Winamp plugin LoudMax. HTTP request/FTP upload and microphone/line-in are not used.

All earlier RadioBOSS versions worked well with this constellation. We've now reinstalled the 4.3.1.557 version, which we had used before, and there are no problems.

Best regards

Thank you for message.
You can also try the solution as described here: http://www.djsoft.net/smf/index.php/topic,1121.msg5003.html#msg5003

Dmitry,

Here is some feedback.

We have followed all your tips and suggestions.

Running RadioBOSS by itself without the USB microphone plugged in, without the Logfiles operating, and without RadioLogger operating we have seen success playing for 27 hours without a lockup.

We are now enabling the USB microphone and the Logfiles to see if that causes a lockup.

We will report back.

Jamie C.

Thanks for information.
I don't think RadioLogger can cause RadioBOSS to crash... It it's something wrong in RL, then it will crash, not RadioBOSS or any other program :)
Most likely, it's HTTP/FTP request. There's an old bug (since 2007) which corrupted memory, and now it seems to corrupt it in some vital place... which causes crashed.
I think the new version will be released today.

Dmitry,

Is there a way to reset the hours run meters for Uptime, Total Uptime and Launches ?  We would like to reset them to zero on the day we start broadcasting.

Thanks, Jamie C.

In RadioBOSS click Settings->Open Settings Folder, open "Profile". To reset the time:
1) close RadioBOSS first (leaving the folder open)
2) delete "run.ini" file

An update has been released recently, it should resolve all the problems... http://dl.djsoft.net/user/RadioBOSS_full.exe

Issue still there. Radioboss keeps crashing. Also, everytime i restart radioboss my schedule is never uploaded, and crossfades are never saved. when is all this going to be fixed. You guys took more time making the interface look pretty, but looks ot me less time making this run stable like past versions

When/where scheduler needs to be uploaded?
Nothing was changed in settings storage method and technically, audio playback is the same since version 4.0. Which means, thoretically, all 4.x versions are the same if we talk about stability.
I think you should reinstall RB to another folder and see what happens.

Hi Djsoft,

I am still having the same problem too. I am not sure what it is, Radioboss is still crashing and when i reopen it the schedule has reverted back to what it was a few months ago, When usually if you just closed radioboss it would still remember what your latest saved schedule was.

Moving back onto the crashing part of radioboss i did think that maybe it was the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 causing this but i have heard and seen it is happening on other computer's (like Windows XP and Windows 7) and i have also found testing Radioboss 4.4 on a computer with Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (Which is our operating system that we use Radioboss on) and it worked for over 72 Hours with no problem, But i don't really want to have to revert back to 4.4 as i found 4.5 worked better than 4.4 but of course 4.5 is unstable.

If there is anything i can do to help you fix this problem let me know.

Btw i do have the latest update 4.5.1 and it is still crashing.

Thanks again

southsound, nyankee do you use any of those features:
- AutoAmp
- Equalizer
- Scheduler tasks which have the "play above the air" option

We're close to find the source of those crashes, and solution will be in 1-2 days I hope.
Very sorry that program doesn't work as it should...

I do use play above the air for two voice overs. When it does crash it has the that mp3 pop up box frozen of the scheduler task that is set play above the  air.

Thanks. In tests here all crashes happened with the "play above air" box popped up. Seems like it's the source of crash. You may turn it off temporarily to make program stable until update is released.

I have turned it off, and i will see if it solves the issue while you guys fix it. I also noticed that some settings go back to default after this crash happens, which is why some are sayign that their settings arent saving when restarting radioboss.

Settings are saves on program exit. You can also save them anytime you need by clicking Settings->Save Profile.

I know, but when this crash accurs it resets some settings. Like having to load you tasks on the schedule and having to enable you crossfades again

Yes, besides profile, RadioBOSS has other settings, which are saved only on program exit (this includes crossfades, output devices, etc). So it's a good idea, after all is set up, restart the program.
I'm thinking to change this... So settings will be saved, like, every time you click "OK" button in settings window.

Hi just to update you djsoft,

I have checked radioboss over and i can't see any of those 3 above on, So i am still wondering if it might be something else but who knows.

Thank you for working so hard to try and find the problem :)
