RB 5.0.3.0 Installed and "Not Responding"

Dmitry,

I have just downloaded and installed RB 5.0.3.0 and it comes up with "Not Responding".

It was working before I did the upgrade.

I have reverted back to RB 5.0.2.0 and it comes up with "Not Responding" too.

I didn't do a backup before the upgrade.

This happened a few weeks ago and I assume the config settings got corrupted or something.  Back then I ended up doing a fresh install and copying over some of the config files manually.

I need a strict procedure to follow so I can do upgrades without the risk of breaking it - by at least having a backup strategy and path to get back to normal.

This is killing me :(

Thanks,  Jamie C.

Can you please send the config files which cause it to become "non responding" to support@djsoft.net - the bug will be fixed shortly.

What sub folders do you want the config files from ?
It's better to have the whole settings folder. At least all files from the root and \Profile.
Also note that a 'hotfix' was released (RB 5.0.3.1) - try installing it, there's a chance that it will fix the problem.

Hotfix didn't work for me.  I'll try something else tomorrow.
Jamie, please send your settings files to support@djsoft.net so we'll be able to fix and correct the problem - this is the fastest way to get things fixed.
Also, today's testing revealed that if RB is used on a slow PC (like Intel Atom @ <=1.33GHz, or it's a powerful PC but it loaded with a lot of programs) and one or more of playlists in RB contain lots of tracks (2000+) then it can take couple of minutes to start up. It can appear as non-responsive but if you wait, it'll start eventually. Do you experience something like this?

Dmitry,

I tried uploading the config folder and this error message came up:

Upload failed (err1).

The filesize is too large for my email account.

I will delete RB from this PC, install it fresh, and manually copy across the config files.

I hope that works.

Thanks,  Jamie C.

Dmitry,

I have RB 5.0.3.2 going.

I did a fresh install and copied across most of the config files from the previous version and it worked.

Thanks,  all happy again,  Jamie C.

Jamie, the problem you've experienced still can come out in the future. Can you please upload it using Dropbox?

Dmitry,

You are correct - it has just started to play up again today with "Not Responding".

The zipped copy of the backup is about 32MB.

Can you please suggest how I can get it to you ?

Email cannot do it.

I don't have Dropbox.

Your online upload facility doesn't work.

Hit me !

Thanks,  Jamie C.
