problem with volume level in latest version 6

I have some issues with the latest version 6017 I installed yesterday. Some of my jingles which run in the main playlist are playing at only half volume, despite them being correct level in the track tool. These used to play perfectly in the previous version. this is an INTERMITTENT issue, sometimes they play fine, other times they are at half volume. It only effects them in the main playlist, but not from the cart wall play-out.

I installed this version over my older version as I was prompted to do so. Everything else was imported fine, but I have this random issue with short files of less than 30 seconds playing at half volume in the main window. Its random, when they come round again to play in the main list, they are fine. I cant work it out at all.

Another issue is that since I upgraded, drag and drop in aux playlists (created by the former version and imported over) has gone. To move tracks I can only cut and paste, but not move them around if they already there by dragging.

Have these issues been reported by anyone else? I have checked the volumes in all the files in track tool for the jingles that play randomly too quiet, and they are fine. If I play them on their own in the main list they are fine. But when they come up in the main list when playing the playlist, I do get random volume errors on files less than 30 secs, does not seem to effect anything longer duration.

Thinking of going back to the last version as these problems were not there, and nothing has changed with my settings or music files.

Please check your File Types (in the Settings), it appears that one of the file types has its playback level lowered and it affects jingles that accidentally belong to this type. When the volume is lowered, please press Ctrl+F4 and make a screenshot of the small window that appeared, it'll probably help us to understand what went wrong.

Thank you, we'll see if it's a bug.

Not yet, but this does not mean the issues do not exist.

All the jingles that this volume reduction affects are not marked as ANY file type. In fact the whole music archive here is not marked by file type as we never did this but have never had an issue before. Since the jingles affected are very short, I don't think time to press ctrl and f4 but will give it a try. Plus the issue is RANDOM, sometimes they fail to play at normal level, other times at half level, but usually only after a preceding fairly short jingle, not a full song.

The only thing that the volume lowered files have in common, having examined the playlist and all details for clues, is that those files affected are pulled from an external USB drive that is drive G on our system. All music is mostly played from an internal storage system. It seems to be the only common factor I can find. However, the previous version of RB did not have issues. I am going to try and make copies of those files to the internal drive, and see if that has any effect on the volume reduction problem. Cant understand why though

This is odd. When you say it's random, does it mean that one track can be played at full volume and sometimes the same track plays at lowered volume? USB drive affects nothing in this case, it seems like a coincidence. Is it possible to record a video with this (Ctrl+F4) window open? You can use any screen recording software like Free Cam.

not using the external G drive does not solve the issue. The volume is pulled down to -13DB for some reason that is not clear.

completely random yes. As I could not use it reliably I removed it and went to the previous version for the time being so I cant make a video. However the debug window just showed the volume pulled down to -13db, and nothing else changed in the window and no error messages in the main log. It only affected short file less than 30 seconds, and I did get it to repeat the same error several times during a test, but then it reverted to normal. perhaps you can replicate the issue, or others may experience it. It definitely does not happen in the older version.I took a pic of the debug window I will email i The track was set to +5DB in track tool. but as u can see, was played back at -13. I paused the playback of the following file to get a quick phone shot

Please check if you have AutoAmp enabled, also if a track has ReplayGain tag. Open it in Track Tool to see if any parameters are set (mixing options and playback level). Open Segue Editor from the playlist to see what is there (playback level is on the left).

Using RadioBoss 6.0.1.9
I am having the exact same problem with the volume being dropped and to about the same degree as indicated above. I checked all of the possible causes you have indicated and all are set properly. To try to determine if it is my settings or a software problem I did a copy of the track playing and then pasted it to be the next track in the playlist. When the track playing at reduced volume finishes and then its copy starts playing, this copy plays at normal levels. Same everything but yet the copy works perfectly. ??????????????????????

Comment:
We understand when you say something doesn't replicate there but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem since you can't possibly replicate the myriad of combinations possible with the RadioBoss product. What we as customers need is to know, is that you recognize that our problems are real, that we don't ask for help to waste your time or ours. From here, it seems that too many of your responses simply dismiss the problem presented by saying you can't replicate it or you try to delay responding by asking for information that is clearly provided in the original request. These kind of responses are not helpful. We all know that this was a major rewrite and there are going to be problems but you must accept that the problems we experience are real and they impact us.

I see the issue is not just me. I have returned to the previous version for this very issue as it is a major problem when broadcasting to have random volume drop outs. I would like to be updated if the problem can be identified, it is clearly an internal Radioboss fault in the new version.

I would like to upgrade again ASAP as the music database system is faster for searching, but the volume pull down issue must be identified and debugged.

I Have same issue with Jingles, sometimes volume of the jingle is half as loud as before, this was not in previous version

Yes, there is an issue when playing Jingles, the volume is lower (at least 50%), when playing over a current track.

There were no issues in v5. When playing a Jingle, it was louder when playing over a track, like it's normally supposed to.

Please try the latest RadioBOSS 6.0.2, it has some adjustments regarding this issue.

How do you start the jingles, do you use the 0-9 jingle buttons or they are started from the playlist?

I have been experiencing lower volume when adding mp3 files...

The 0-9 jingle buttons, the issue is still there with v6.0.2.0.
Please note that those jingles are not processed by the DSP as configured in RadioBOSS, they play as is. If you have a DSP that increases music volume level (e.g compressor, stereo tool etc) this does not affect jingles.

I have been experiencing lower volume when adding mp3 files...
Can you please provide some details? Is it random or always happens with the same files?

My audio is suddenly dropping -5db randomly, then pops back up for a bit. Rinse and repeat. When running RB cloud, it's fine.

We have the (same) problem, that we can not anymore (with the new version) set any tags or change volume on our recordet voictracks... they are wav files. After I changed it to an mp3, it was possible to change volume and set tags. So I guess the problem comes with the wav files
