In some of my studios (particularly for certain web radio stations), I have checked the ‘do not update playcount and last played’ option. This reduces the amount of work required by the hard drive to update my .rbdata files. It also allows me to have several studios on the same database without the last played tag causing confusion between studios.

I was wondering where the ‘use the last played tag’ option gets its information from? Perhaps from the tracks.db file ?
If I have disabled the last played count, is this option useful, or is it pointless?

If you have disabled the playcount update tag, it also prevents writing the last played tag as well, so any features that rely on this tag, will not work as intended.

This reduces the amount of work required by the hard drive to update my .rbdata files.

The amount of the data written is so low, it will take a millennia to wear out even the cheapest SSD drive.

So this information is written only in the Rbdata and if this feature is disabled, it is useless to activate use the last played tag ?

Not if you have more than 30 studios running on Hyper V on a RAID 1 HDD setup...

Can we imagine a different way to store this information because I have another problem, I wanted to use one database for 20 RB studios, but the problem is with last played tag, if the song is played on differents studios they will update the last played tag so it will perturbate the generation of each one, leading a particular studio to believe that the track has already been played on it, when in fact it has not.

Each studio that connects to the database should be able to store playcount and last playback information specific to each radio station that connects to the database, you see what I mean ?
