Receiving an Internet Stream and Broadcasting it via RadioBOSS

Dmitry,

We need to receive an Internet stream and broadcast it via RadioBOSS.  I've never looked at doing this before but we need to do it twice this week from the following source:

http://www.abc.net.au/newcastle/

Under the "Listen Live" section on that page.

Is this difficult to do ?

Thanks,  Jamie C.

You'll need a direct stream link to relay this station in RadioBOSS. While studying the page I think the stream link is: http://www.abc.net.au/res/streaming/audio/hls/local_newcastle.m3u8 (it's AAC 48kbps) - it works with RadioBOSS.

You can insert this link into the playlist: menu Playlist->Add URL
Or start it using the scheduler: add new event, click the Wizard button, select Play an Internet stream.

Dmitry,

Fantastic, I followed your instructions and it plays but once it gets to 11 seconds it stops.  I tried it over and over again and it does the same every time.

Any ideas ?

Thanks,  Jamie C.

You can try another link I've extracted from their site:

Dmitry,

Thanks, I have that running now and it seems to be continuous now.  I'll test that one for a few hours and see how it goes.

Thanks again,  Jamie C.

Dmitry,

Our rebroadcast (simulcast) worked very well today.  I entered a few repeats of the stream and a station ID in case the stream dropped out so that the silence detector would move the player to the next rack.  That worked well because the stream did drop out once over the 3 hour period.

At the end of the 3 hour rebroadcast we switched to our normal live programming but we couldn't work out how to get off the live stream.

We hit the play button and the stream kept playing.

We hit the next track button and that worked.

What is the normal process to stop a live stream and go to a track in the current playlist ?

We need to do another one of these on Sunday morning from 5:30am to 10am so we'd like to get it sorted out properly.

Thanks,  Jamie C.

We take 2 streams daily and weekly
One issue you may find is the stream ex supplier may drop out and RB or how we do it wont reconnect automatically
What I did is setup the scheduler to reconnect every 10minutes so if it does we connect automatically
This might not be the correct way but it works for us
Cheers

RadioBOSS will automatically reconnect a stream if it has a duration specified (not 0).
