Pety,

Dmitry's solution is a winner - and simple too.  Do that ...  but remember to sort the list and then save it.

Jamie C.
Thanks Jamie, I already did it. It is simple, but so powerful.

Another, more automatic way to do it:

1. create Playlist Generator Pro preset to select one track from a source (with "Advance position on each generation" option, see the image attached).
2. create scheduler event to generate and save the playlist (just generate and save, do not start):
run PlaylistGeneratorPro.exe -preset=MyPreset -out=C:\playlist.m3u8 - this event should be started once a day, every day, just to update the playlist.
3. Now the C:\playlist.m3u8 playlist contains the track for current day. Create another event to start this playlist 4 times during a day.

Until now, the first method is brilliant. I will study the second one too. It looks a little bit complicated, but it is interesting. Thanks a lot.

I made the playlist and the event in Scheduler.
May I remove now from Settings - "Sort playlist by column" ?

Yes I can and I did it  ;D .

Thanks Dmitry for the nice, easy and best solution.

Thanks Jamie for your help. I know that you are good at the bottom. I hope I wrote well  :)
BIG PROBLEM.
Five days ago computer restarted (AC power stoped for about 2 hours).
The problem is that my (our) work was compromised in Scheduler.
My automated playlist was restarted. That means that track started from the beginning: 001.
I am so in a bad temper.

Dmitry, can you make a solution for cases like this?

For example, to store in a file text the track wich was played and when PC (RB) is restarted, the automated playlist to start with the file wich is stored in file text.

If this BUG is not fix I think that this good feature (play tracks In order) is useless.

Dmitry, I think that there is a BUG in RB (rotation).
- I deleted old playlist and I made another one (see picture 1) like you told me to do (http://www.djsoft.net/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3615.0;attach=4424;image). The new playlist file start from number 022.
- I made another event in Scheduler exactly how you teached me.
- I restarted RB but surprise. In playlist plays another track than in playlist file. There is the track number 007. Where from RB took it?

I am totally confused. How RB works about rotations? In this situation RB is unpredictable.

RB can save the Track List state more frequently (I suppose you're using Track List). Anyway, if your PC restarts because of power failure, that means that you need to use UPS to avoid it.

It remembers the position for Track Lists (when used "In Order" selection) but that can fail if your PC is shut down as a result of power supply failure.

There was an issue with Track List cache (discussed in another topic here), it was fixed in RB 5.0.2.

Pety, Dmitry,

We had the same problem yesterday when we rebooted the computer as outlined here:

I will stop the PC to see if this happenes again.

Dmitry

I had a playlist (a loop in a loop: rotations) like this one: http://www.djsoft.net/smf/index.php/topic,3615.msg14388.html#msg14388

It worked very nice until I installed the new version of RB.
After that RadioBOSS restarted the playlist. That means that track numer one was played again. Hmm. That is an old problem wich was "solved". Why the solved problems aren't solved?

I really cannot trust RadioBOSS if allways this things happened.
Imagine that If have about 10 or 18 events with rotations I must re-make all playlists (with recount the number of start track) and the events and start them after RB installed. This is not a solution.

If RadioBOSS fails at this point then RB is an untrusted software.
I am very angered about that. This problem is allways recurring.  :-X
Tell me what I have to do...

This happened because we've solved another problem with the Track List feature in RB 5.1 update. The way it stores the lists had been changed completely... This should not happen in the future.

When this future is? Becouse it is not right now...

Why do not tell to all RadioBOSS owners to be attentively about ROTATIONS and anything else?
Becouse after RB re-install all Rotations are broken.
In all three radio stations I manage this happened.
Now I talked with the owners to tell them that RadioBOSS made a mistake. They replied: "You told us that RadioBOSS is the best RAS on the market"...  :-\

So, please if you make major changes tell RB administrators to be attentively at all issues comes with the updates. What happened is not professional at all.

For rotations it's better to use the Playlist Generator Pro. The Track List feature was re-done in the 5.1 update and that's why old information was lost. I'm sorry for the inconvenience it had caused, this will never happen in the future.

Playlist Generator doesn't play loop in a loop. So this is not good at all.
The ideea with Track List is that if I have 365 tracks I will rotate them in one year without take care about them.

This is not about simple rotation. It is about complex rotation:
Day one, Track 01:  00:15, 04:15, 10:15, 18:15, 22:15;
Day two, Track 02:  00:15, 04:15, 10:15, 18:15, 22:15;
Day three, Track 03: 00:15, 04:15, 10:15, 18:15, 22:15;
etc., etc.

Can PlaylistGeneratorPro make an automated rotation like THIS?

Yes, there's an option in the Category properties, on the Tracks tab - "automatically advance to the next track on each generation".

In Event I will add with wizzard "Perform an action" and "Run Playlist Generator".
So, PGPro will load the playlist (wich contents all tracks copied four times) and it will be set "In order" and "Advance on each generation". I will try it.

Why is better this way than this one  http://www.djsoft.net/smf/index.php/topic,3615.msg14388.html#msg14388 ?

OK, please let me know how it goes.

It's just a different way. The Track List option will also work - in the future it will not be changed and you won't get the problem you've described here: http://www.djsoft.net/smf/index.php/topic,3615.msg16605.html#msg16605
