Sweepers

This may sound like dumb question but as a relatively new broadcaster I'm a little confused by the term 'sweep' or 'sweeper' when referring to a playlist. Could someone please explain exactly what it really means?

Thanks. So does the term 'sweep' simply mean to run an ID/Promo?

yes that whats sweeper means, it means to run a promo after a curtian number of tracks are played

Also, sometimes "sweepers" are used to complete an hour: for example, if there's 59 minutes and 45 seconds of music, then to make a full hour, a 15 seconds sweeper is used.
