Internet Stream Drop Out Revert Back To Stream

Hello Everyone,
We stream an internet sourced network feed, it is becoming frustrating. We have 3 streams to 2 different servers 1 IceCast and 2 Shoutcast feeds at 64kbps each. If one of the streams to the server drops out for whatever reason RB will go into playing a song instead of going back into the internet sourced stream.
Is there anything I can do to make it revert back to the stream
Apologies if this issue has been covered before
Thank You

Do you host the servers yourself  on a home or local network an also where you live cause some ISP stop you from this and also the specs of your net matters hosting Those on home network or local is not really good idea? Calculate the bandwidth you use per month you will see no ISP can support that.

We use a dedicated server in the US and a shared server in the UK
We have a 24mbps download and a 1-2mbps upload cable service.
In the next two weeks we will have upgraded to a symmetrical 100mbps optic fiber network
I am pretty sure our bandwidth and hosting is not the issue its in RB
Thank you for your reply and input
Regards

It will revert back to the stream if you have specified duration when adding it to the playlist. Streams with no duration specified are played until they end and/or terminated for some reason. But if you have specified the duration - it will reconnect if stream is interrupted.

Hello Dmitry
Thanks I will give that a try
Our system is going well
Thank You for your continued developments

Hi,

Here is the workarround i am using when broadcasting a live feed.
I use a playlist that alternate the URL of the stream with no duration (0) and a jingle ie:
http://stream.liveserver.com:8000
jingle
http://stream.liveserver.com:8000
jingle
http://stream.liveserver.com:8000

If the stream drops than there is a jingle and RB retries to connect.

I also add a playlist from local tracks to avoid only playing jingles if you cannot reconnect right away

http://stream.liveserver.com:8000
jingle
http://stream.liveserver.com:8000
track1
jingle
http://stream.liveserver.com:8000
track2
jingle
http://stream.liveserver.com:8000
track3
jingle
http://stream.liveserver.com:8000

if it can help you

Hello Christian and fellow RB users,
Thank You for your input Christian.
We have moved our service to our new data centre. We have moved RB from a Win7 base to Win XP. I dont think Win7 helped us out any better compared to XP
The end result is there has been no hiccups what so ever. Very Pleased
The internet stream is solid and works flawlessly
After 2 years of using RB our current setup is the best we have ever had with what we are doing
Thanks everyone
