Network programming with fixed-duration shows and automatic ad insertion

Hello,

We use RadioBOSS to broadcast a daily radio program that is retransmitted live by a network of 14 small stations. Because of this, our programs must start and end at exact times.

Our programs are not single audio files. We build playlists manually (winamp) using interview recordings and music tracks placed back-to-back, then load those playlists into RadioBOSS and manage it when there's live interviews.

The issue is with advertisements. When an ad is scheduled for a certain time, RadioBOSS waits until the current item finishes before playing it. This causes the program to run long, which is a problem because our affiliate stations expect the next program to begin on time.

Advertising inventory changes every day, so manually inserting ad breaks into playlists is not practical and can easily lead to missed spots.

Is there a way to automatically insert ads into fixed breaks while keeping the overall program duration unchanged? Any recommended workflow for network programming with strict timing requirements?

Thank you.

The issue is with advertisements. When an ad is scheduled for a certain time, RadioBOSS waits until the current item finishes before playing it.
You can instruct it to start immediately without waiting - in the Ads Scheduler, Settings, Event properties.
Alternatively, you can make the ads run as Overlay Event, pausing the main playlist - this will make the ads play in its own player, not touching the main playlist window.
