RB 5.0.3.2 Track List Problems (Again)

Dmitry,

I have just experience a recurring problem with the "Track List" feature.  Here is the story:

1. Main on air PC needed a RB update to version 5.0.3.2

2. Did a backup of RB using > Settings > Settings backup and restore

3. Shut down RB

4. Performed all Windows 7 updates and rebooted PC

5. Installed RB 5.0.3.2

6. Started RB version 5.0.3.2

7. Went into > Settings > Open Settings folder > Temp ... and deleted Tracklist.cache file

8. Observed problems with "Track List" where audio files from various "Track Lists" were broadcast in a disorganised manner from different and unrelated "Track Lists"

9. I recreated all the playlists used by the "Track List" feature and regenerated the "Track List" entries in our normal music playlists.

10. The "Track List" feature is now working okay

These symptoms seem to be identical to the problems we have seen before.  My gut feel is that rebooting the PC causes this problem but I cannot confirm that at present.

Any ideas ?

Thanks,  Jamie C.

That's really odd. I remember you were posting this bug before but we were unable to reproduce it here.

Can you please do the following:
- do a fresh RB installation (this is for testing purposes)
- add couple of Track Lists there
- try to reproduce the problem

If the problem happens there, send RB settings backup to support@djsoft.net

Dmitry,

I have not done what your requested in the above post yet - because this error happens on our main studio PC and we really cannot take it off the air easily.

But I have tracked the problem down to being initiated when we close RD and restart it again.

This morning RB crashed and came up with an error message and then out of memory error.

The live presenter rebooted the PC, started RB and the Track List sound files have been a mess ever since.  He called me for assistance and I suggested that he should try deleting the file:  > Settings > Open Settings Folder > Temp > TrackList.cache

He did that and no improvement - the sound files broadcast from any Track List compilation end up all over the place - with no noticeable sequence or order.

Previously in the last month I put off closing RB and rebooting the PC for fear of this happening and me being overloaded with re-creating all the Track Lists to get going again.

Any other ideas ?  I'd better send you the settings backup tomorrow when I'm back at the station.

Thanks,  Jamie C.

From the previous settings backup you sent, I see that you've used really large Track Listss consisting of 100,000s of tracks - Track List is not intended to be used with such a large amounts of tracks.

Please send the backup from your studio as well, we'll check it.

Dmitry,

Our Track List playlist files contain a maximum of 13 audio files in the largest one - and 2 audio files in the smallest one.  We have about 5-6 Track Lists in operation at present.

We do have xml music library files with a large number of music files in them - but no playlists with that number and no Track Lists either.

That's odd. Please send the settings from the machine which has this problem, I think we'll figure out what's wrong there.

some time, I send to you a copy of my profile, where radioboss froze at the start, and sometimes showed some forgetfulness.

and the only solution was to restore a backup of the profile folder.
I also used tracklist so here I think it is the same error.

If you experience this again, please send your settings backup. This bug is fixed in the upcoming RB 5.1 release, but we need ta make sure the fix works.

Ok, I'll do it!.

A few weeks ago I realized that there is a problem:
Sometimes a song can not be played, and written to the log, the track does not exist.
But then drag the track back to the player (from the registry) and plays correctly.

It happens so randomly, but about once every 3 hours.

If it's error code 2 then it means file was inaccessible at the time RadioBOSS tried to play it. Is it possible that some other software accessed this file at the time RB started to play it?

No, there is no other software that accesses the songs.
I think I found the cause, The music is an exclusiv hard disk. and was active in the energy plan "turn off hard disks after 20 minutes"
'll Let you know if still occurs.

Do you mean the problem still occur? We've never seen anything like this while testing or using RB here... Looks like it's something to do with your PC.

Sorry forget the translations.
If the problem still occurs.
The music is on a separate hard disk operating system.
I have no antivirus. only sandboxie.

I have seen something similar to this when someone uses a nas box or is accessing their music from a server.  They eventually had to move the music to the main computer.  You might try defragmenting the hard drives and see if that helps.  Just a thought.

David, thanks for the info .  :)
In this case it is a local hard drive, but that is also shared with another computer on a local network.
I try to defragment the disk and will comment if I notice any improvement.

Let me know if the problem still happens after defragmentation. We can change the way RB handles those situations - e.g. it can do 2-3 attempts to load a file before giving up and reporting an error.
